MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Ryan Fitzpatrick threw three touchdowns to lead the Miami Dolphins to a 26-18 victory over the New York Jets at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday.
Fitzpatrick completed 24 of 36 passes for 288 yards, with two touchdown passes to rookie Preston Williams. Mark Walton rushed for 12 carries over 29 yards. Mike Gesicki had six receptions over 95 yards.
Their victory over the Jets (1-7) marks the first win of the season for the Dolphins (1-7), who had lost ten games in a row.
The Dolphins led 21-12 at halftime. In the third, both teams scored field goals. In the final quarter, the Dolphins scored again after a fumble by the Jets bounced out of bounds into the end zone for a safety resulting in a 26-15 Miami lead.
Jets quarterback Sam Darnold was 27 of 39 for 260 yards, with one touchdown pass and one interception. Jamison Crowder had 8 receptions for 83 yards and one touchdown.
Next week, the Jets host the New York Giants. Miami is at the Indianapolis Colts.
